Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using OCMB Accountant, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

OCMB Accountant is a free, AI-assisted tax-filing application that helps individuals prepare U.S. federal and state tax returns and produce an IRS-quality printable handoff PDF. The service is provided "as is" and we make no guarantees of fitness for any specific tax situation.

3. Not legal or tax advice

OCMB Accountant is software, not a CPA, an enrolled agent, or a tax attorney. The AI assistant grounds its answers in U.S. federal and state .gov sources, but its output is informational only and is not a substitute for professional advice. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of every return you file.

4. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in provider account secure.
  • You must provide accurate information and update it as needed.
  • One account per person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to prepare returns for other people without their authorization.
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise abuse the service.
  • Use the service in violation of any applicable law or tax regulation.

6. Free tier

All current features of OCMB Accountant are free to use. We may add paid features in the future; if we do, we will give you advance notice and a clear choice before any charges apply. Existing free features will not be retroactively paywalled.

7. Your data

You retain all rights to the tax data and documents you upload. By using the service you grant us a limited license to process that data solely to operate the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export or delete your data at any time from your account settings.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY CALCULATION OR AI-GENERATED GUIDANCE IS COMPLETE OR APPLICABLE TO YOUR SPECIFIC TAX SITUATION. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING ALL OUTPUTS BEFORE FILING.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OCMB ACCOUNTANT AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY TAX PENALTIES, INTEREST, OR ASSESSMENTS THAT RESULT FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

10. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used for fraud or abuse.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect.
